Common mistakes

  • You wedge the hips so close to the wall that tight hamstrings tug your lower back off the floor.

  • You keep the legs actively tense instead of letting them rest on the wall.

  • You treat it as a stretch to push into rather than a recovery position to dissolve into.

What to focus on

  • Scoot back until the lower back rests flat and the legs can be completely passive — that distance is personal.

  • Try a folded blanket under the hips for a gentle lift that makes the whole position sweeter.

  • Breathe slowly through the nose and let the feet and face go slack; the benefit is in the downshift.
