Common mistakes
You let the belly hang passively so the whole backbend collapses into your lower back instead of spreading through the spine.
You slide the elbows too far forward, which flattens the chest lift and turns the pose into a slump.
You jut the chin forward and crank the neck up instead of keeping it a natural continuation of the spine.
What to focus on
Isometrically drag the forearms back toward your hips without moving them — this pulls the chest through and distributes the bend evenly.
Keep the legs heavy and the pubic bone rooted so the lift comes from length, not lumbar pinch.
Let each exhale soften the shoulders while the chest stays proud.
