Common mistakes
You lock the knees back hard, which switches off the legs instead of rooting them.
You let the front ribs flare open as the arms sweep overhead, arching the lower back.
You shrug the shoulders toward the ears when you reach up.
What to focus on
Press down evenly through all four corners of each foot and feel the legs firm in response.
Draw the front ribs gently in so the reach comes from the spine lengthening, not the back arching.
Use slow, even breaths to make this an active pose rather than just standing still.
