Common mistakes
You let the elbows flare out to the sides as you lower.
You dip the shoulders below elbow height, which strains the front of the shoulder.
You let the hips sag or the chest drop first so the body lowers in pieces.
What to focus on
Shift forward onto the tiptoes before bending the elbows — that shift is what keeps the angles right.
Lower the whole body as one rigid plank and stop when the elbows reach ninety degrees.
Drop the knees to the mat to build the pattern honestly rather than collapsing through a full lower.
