Common mistakes
You bend the knees deeper as you descend, turning the hinge into a half squat that unloads the hamstrings.
You chase depth by rounding the lower back instead of stopping where the hamstring stretch ends.
You let the bar drift forward away from the legs, which drags the stress onto the lower back.
You hyperextend and lean back at the top instead of finishing with a simple glute squeeze.
What to focus on
Push the hips straight back like closing a car door with your glutes, not down like a squat.
Your range is defined by your hamstring stretch, not by how low the bar gets.
Keep the bar dragging lightly against the thighs and shins the entire rep.
