Common mistakes

  • You take short choppy steps that keep all the load on the front of the knee instead of the whole leg.

  • You push off the back foot to stand up instead of driving through the front leg.

  • You let the torso pitch forward and wobble side to side instead of staying tall between steps.

What to focus on

  • Pause briefly at the bottom of each stride so momentum never does the work.

  • Think about pulling the floor toward you with the front heel as you rise.

  • Keep the hips square to the direction of travel rather than letting them rotate with each step.
