Common mistakes

  • You rush the reps in a bouncing rhythm that lets the tendons do the work instead of the calves.

  • You rock forward and use body lean to help the weight up.

  • You cheat the top by rising only halfway when your grip or balance gets tired.

What to focus on

  • Treat every rep as three parts: full rise, deliberate squeeze, slow lower.

  • Stand near a wall or rack so balance never limits how heavy you can go.

  • Keep the ankles tracking straight so you do not roll outward at the top.
